Hand Painted Victorian
How can you tell between a mirror?
I just inherited a hand mirror in precious wood. One parent said that is probably Victoria and Edward. (What happens in the folklore of the family!) The mirror has a painted woman in the back, wearing a blue dress and flow of gold, the shoulders, with her hair up with a vase of flowers and surrounded by a garland of flowers painted. On the front is a painting of the same flowers just below the cup. There are flowers a little more in the bottom of mango. I know it must be very old because the glass has small wrinkles in it. Normally, this sort of thing I'd go with the dress of women in the back, but I have suspect that a historical portrait was placed in the back. Is this really possible? Thank you very much in advance, which can tell you more if you like! (Y sorry if this is the wrong category, I really could not find an appropriate category for it!)
For a really accurate assessment I recommend that will take an expert in your field. Although if I were to hazard a guess that it is very likely, judging by how old the glass is "wavy". Or you could try one of these online assessments, but is unlikely to be as precise as it is not in person. Well Luckily, it sounds good and surely mean a lot to you!
